Certainly, this is such a part of what "making the very most of every moment" is about. Let me just say to those so close to being saved for a moment... If it's been easier for you to believe that you were created than it was to believe that something exploded, hurling all that is in the universe precisely where it is now, and that on this tiny orb, two cells in a mud puddle were hit by lightening and grow into what we are today... then... why wouldn't "understanding and firmly grasping what the will of the Lord is" be the most obvious next best thing to desire and believe?
Now, to everyone... whom just woke up and arose to avail ourselves, and are now making the very most of our time in these evil days... why wouldn't "understanding and firmly grasping what the will of the Lord is", be our the most obvious next best thing to desire and believe? Paul suggests in his warning, that we may have become vague and thoughtless and even foolish!
Friends, we must keep our hearts held up to the Lord in sacrifice. We must keep going back to our first love... desiring our original commitment we made to follow Christ to be tested. How serious were we? These words, vague, thoughtless and foolish describe a heart of complacency... neither hot nor cold... hiding behind those who are on fire for the Lord and feeding on the praises of men rather than Christ. I believe this is one of the tragedies in so many marriages. We will soon touch on the marriage with Paul just ahead... I hope you'll stay with us.
It might be that we need to meditate on the "reason" Christ wants us to understand and firmly grasp what His will for us is. HE TRULY LOVES US! Focusing our attention and one another's attention on the Love of God will cut through the vague, thoughtless, and even foolish cloud that hangs over our hearts at times. Listen to the love of Him Whom created all things...
"No one has greater love [no one has shown stronger affection] than to lay down (give up) his own life for his friends. You are My friends if you keep on doing the things which I command you to do. I do not call you servants (slaves) any longer, for the servant does not I do not call you servants (slaves) any longer, for the servant does not know what his master is doing (working out). But I have called you My friends, because I have made known to you everything that I have heard from My Father. [I have revealed to you everything that I have learned from Him.] You have not chosen Me, but I have chosen you..." John 15:13-16a
I pray God's love will stir us from complacency today and give us the desire for Christ's will for each of us today.
Let's pick up with Ephesians verse 5:18 next time.
I love you.
