James 3:14-15‏

14. "But if you have bitter jealousy (envy) and contention (rivalry, selfish ambition) in your hearts, do not pride yourselves on it and thus be in defiance of and false to the Truth."

Wait a minute, you say... I thought we were talking about wisdom? Well we are... do you see the word, "truth"? For those "claiming" to be wise, yet still holding on to any of these things listed here in verse 14... they do not share God's wisdom. And God's wisdom is the only truth that there exists.

15. "This [superficial] wisdom is not such as comes down from above, but is earthly, unspiritual (animal), even devilish (demoniacal)."

The Amplified adds, "superficial" to Earth's wisdom, and that's exactly what it is. The world says if you want riches, you've got to earn it and save... God says you'll never earn it and to share it when received. The world says if you want love you've got to get out there and find it... God says that He is love and that apart from Him, there is no love. The world says, an eye for an eye, tooth for tooth... God says to forgive as you have been forgiven. So, you see... the wisdom of the world is opposed to God. Wisdom that is apposed to what God says is nothing more than a lie... and therefore is demonic. No matter how set up, polished, popular, and desirous world wisdom appears... God's truth remains forever and ever.
