James 3:4

4. "Likewise, look at the ships: though they are so great and are driven by rough winds, they are steered by a very small rudder wherever the impulse of the helmsman determines."

Again, we look at such a small thing with great power over a larger body, by comparison. But notice in this verse it says, "the impulse of the helmsman determines. There is a key to the issue of powerful tongue. Who is the "helmsman" whom controls your vessel. Is it still you? Is there a "bit" in your mouth? There should be? In both examples, It should be the Holy Spirit!

If we look at the bit set in the horses mouth and the helmsman setting the course, our faith in God's Word must have way over our tongue. I recommend lessening your diet of television and newspapers (what the world is saying) and increasing your diet on the Word of God. This is because faith comes by hearing the word of God. Romans 10:7 -Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God. Faith will take the place of fear in your life. There is nothing in this world order that our faith cannot overcome. What you speak will change your life more positively, as your feeding on the Word increases. What you put into your eyes and ears goes into your heart, and out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. Jesus put it this way in Luke 6:45 "A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart brings forth that which is evil: for out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks".

We as believers do have the power to create an Eden in our lives, because we are blessed and not cursed, and because we have a new covenant of the blessings of God upon us. Again: Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us; for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangs on a tree: That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles (to us) through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith. Galatians 3:13-14. And: But now has He (Jesus) obtained a more excellent ministry, by how much also He is the mediator of a better covenant, which was established upon better promises. Hebrews 8:6

Let's pick up with James verse 3:5 next time.

I love you.
