"In Him the whole structure is joined (bound, welded) together harmoniously, and it continues to rise (grow, increase) into a holy temple in the Lord [a sanctuary dedicated, consecrated, and sacred to the presence of the Lord]." Ephesians 2:21Do we think of ourselves as the dwelling place of The Most High? A Holy Temple? I know you have felt the presence of The Lord within you... certainly upon salvation, but at other times, also... and maybe we don't feel Him at other times, but remember... our faith is not based on what we feel.
Our faith is based on what Jesus has told us. He said that if we abide in Him, He abides in us. Like He said to Peter... originally in Aramaic... "And I tell you, you are 'Kipha' (Peter) (rock), and on this rock I will build My church" (Matthew 16:18a), and He did exactly as He said. He is still building! You and I together, with the disciples are what God is building!
22. In Him [and in fellowship with one another] you yourselves also are being built up [into this structure] with the rest, to form a fixed abode (dwelling place) of God in (by, through) the Spirit.
There it is... the structure that God has made... not hewed by anything man has made... nothing man has done to help Him... It is His dwelling place made of the very thing He loves the most - us! Paul says, "you yourselves also are being built up into this structure with the rest, to form a fixed abode (dwelling place) of God".
Paul adds, "in (by, through) the Spirit"... God is a spirit and our picture of a temple is from the physical realm, so we need to think spiritually to understand the reality of this beautiful and literal passage before us! It's more than awesome... It's LOVE!
Let's pick up with Ephesians verse 3:1-2 next time.

ReplyDeleteI know Charlotte... I'd heard it... that we are His temple, but did not know for a long time how He actually is and does do it.
ReplyDeleteI still see the original temple in the desert with four tribes of tents, all pitched to the N. S. E. and W... forming a giant cross in the desert. He was showing us what He would do in place of us building a temple to be with Him in... He can now build His own temple with the very object of His LOVE. Praise God, and thank You "JESUS"... <3
