Becoming Like Him

"that I may know him and the power of his resurrection, and may share his sufferings, becoming like him in his death," Philippians 3:10

What does it mean to become like Him (Christ Jesus) in His death? Do you Love God? Do you love one another? Would you die for Him? Would you die for anyone? Jesus died for you and it has something to do with love.

It has something to do with dying to self also. Do you love one another enough to give your life up for the benefit of the other. Jesus said that in trying to save our own life we would lose it. What is the connection between love and death?

The Amplified Bible renders the word love as, "that reasoning, intentional, spiritual devotion such as is inspired by God's love for and in us". The King James version renders it as (charity), but the original Greek word used here was "Agape". This word was always used when referring to the way God loves.

The only way you and I can love this way is to view the world and each other from Gods' view or reasoning. Gods view of us... or, from the way God looks at us... He was willing to die for me and now I have to decide if I am willing to do the same for Him and others.

Let's think about these things today and ask the Lord to help us understand... change us... replace our carnal ways with His likeness.
