Colossians 3:1-4

"If then you have been raised with Christ [to a new life, thus sharing His resurrection from the dead], aim at and seek the [rich, eternal treasures] that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God" Colossians 3:1.

We cannot seek without doing something? Seeking is looking for something, and here, Paul is telling us that we should be seeking what is above. And, if we are seeking what is above, then we MUST be seeking into the bible (Gods' Word). The Amplified renders "those things" as, rich, eternal treasures... and that is exactly what Gods' Word offers.

Searching out, seeking the scriptures is so important because, while just reading the bible alone is great... but unlocking much of the rich, eternal treasures requires more searching, prayer, biblical resources, group study, etc. I have added some helpful study tips below.

2. "And set your minds and keep them set on what is above (the higher things), not on the things that are on the earth."

I have said before that LOVE is a great acronym for a: Life Of Viewing Everything-Eternally. And if we Love God, then we need to view everything from His point of view. In eternity, right now, God is focused on transforming YOU into His likeness, and bringing all of mankind unto Himself, just as He did you. And so, that should be where our focus is as well.

3. "For [as far as this world is concerned] you have died, and your [new, real] life is hidden with Christ in God."

Here is just one more of many verses that should show us why focusing on sin is so unscriptural. We (whom are in Christ) have died to sin... hence the reference to, "as far as this world is concerned"... and hidden with Christ means that "If God were to look for your sin, He could only see His Son, Christ Jesus." Having already turned from sin, in order to come "into Christ", we can now Focus On That Which Is Above! We Focus on Him - He Transforms us. Amen?

4. "When Christ, Who is our life, appears, then you also will appear with Him in [the splendor of His] glory."

In carefully studying this verse, I find no reason why this would not pertain to both, the present and future tense. Of course, we know on the "Day Of The Lord" we will appear with Him, but we also know that Christ's' Kingdom is at hand now and when He appears after the destruction of two tall towers in New York City, or at the scene of a terrible earthquake, He appears in the form of food, shelter, clothing, and His Love, and it takes you and I to carry it there for Him. And so, yes... when Christ appears, then you and I just seem to appear with Him also in the splendor of His glory. Amen?

Let's pick back up with verse 5, next time.

I love you.
